Presented by Wanda Bennett of Chisholm Institute of TAFE
‘Management’ and ‘Leadership’ are terms that are often interchanged but they each have a very different focus.
‘Leadership’ is about getting people to move by inspiring them, whereas ‘Management’ is about bringing vital skills and abilities to the workplace to efficiently coordinate business resources. Effective leadership is required at all levels of organisations not just the top, and in organisations large and small.
This session examines the question: “Are leaders made or born?” It involves a self-analysis of traits and abilities and contrasts management and leadership skills. It also considers various styles of leadership. Finally it looks at how to further develop leadership and management competencies – to build on participants’ current skills, knowledge and experiences.
Wanda Bennett has worked in the business management area at Chisholm Institute of TAFE for over 15 years, delivering workplace programs and staff development, state wide, interstate and off-shore, in various delivery modes. Her industry experience covers a gamut of enterprises and organisations. Her role is assessing, facilitating, workshop design and delivery, coaching, mentoring, and consulting with industry clients.
